November 12th Meeting

The November Meeting will be Thursday the 12th from 1-4pm., at the Commodore Hotel on mainstreet in Linden Tn. Bring a project and join us.

Harvest of Handwork Exhibit a Success!

The October 16, and 17 2009 Harvest of Handwork Exhibit presented by the Buffalo River Fiber Arts Guild was a success! We had great cooperation getting set up and taken down, and the items displayed were wonderful examples of fiber crafts! We had a good number of people come in and look at the display and observe the members who were on hand to demonstrate their craft. We will post pictures as we get them from the different members.

Harvest of Handwork

Oct 16 and 17 2009 Is the Harvest of Handwork At Burcham Art Studio in Linden, Tn On Mill Street. The Two day event will feature knit, crochet, weaving, and spinning demonstrations as well as items made by the members of the Buffalo River Fiber Arts Guild. There will be a few items for sale and many items displayed.

October Meeting and Exhibit Information

We had our meeting yesterday October 8. Andi Marshall, Mary Smith and Cindy Collins came. We discussed the Exhibit details.

The guild will present the Harvest of Hand Work on October 16 and 17, 2009 10:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. at Burcham Studio in Linden on Mill Street.

We are hoping for a good turn out!

September Word of the Month: Flax A plant traditionally grown for the fiber in it's stem. After processing it is known as Linen.

Meeting this Thursday

The monthly meeting of the Buffalo River Fiber Guild is this thursday September 10, 2009. We meet from 1-4 pm in the Banquet Room of the Commodore Hotel on Mainstreet in Linden. Thank you to the Commodore for letting us meet there since April! See everyone then!

Steeking?

Steeking in knitting is a sewn reinforcement done before one -gasp- cuts the knitted fabric to insert an element ie; welt pocket cowl neck etc.

If you are going to have to cut a garment -- a cardigan worked in the round, for instance, and then cut up the middle, the steeks are extra stitches to mark the cutting line and provide a little hem.
